Our AC wasn't kicking on so we called Western Heating and AC. Cris came out and was super nice, knowledgeable and worked quickly. He showed me what was wrong and explained it in a way a non prof. would understand. Cris gave me all my options and broke down the pricing, no hidden fees or high pressure upselling. AC is working now and is blowing cold! Would highly recommend Western Heating and AC, especially Cris - He knows his stuff!

Chaston and his # 1 guy arrived in good time! Cleaned me up in record time and even found a dryer vent that had never been hooked up prior,,,this house will only be 3 yrs old in September 2026! So glad that I had this service done!

I had such a great experience with my technician, Ken Tokowitz, from Western Heating and A/C. He was incredibly kind, professional, and took the time to be very thorough with everything he checked. What really stood out to me was how he went above and beyond—he even made sure my unit was still under warranty, which I truly appreciated. He found the leak right away and was confident in fixing it.In comparison to the company that originally installed my system, this level of care and attention made a huge difference. It’s clear Ken genuinely cares about doing the job right and taking care of his customers.I would absolutely recommend Ken and Western Heating and A/C to every single friend and family member without hesitation. I was very impressed with their technician Spencer. He did a thorough examination and servicing of my heating system. He answered all my questions and went a step further. I had a beeping on occasion in my laundry room that I couldn’t figure out. He found a water alarm on the floor in back of the water heater that needed a battery change. He literally saved my sanity. *Update*We did not receive three missed calls, a voicemail, or any text messages—despite this being the same number that received the appointment notification and had just spoken with your staff. No one in our household received any communication.A quick call or text to let someone know you’re on the way or have arrived would be sufficient. Ideally, that communication should happen before the technician leaves, not afterward.I do appreciate you getting us scheduled. Since our family is on a routine maintenance program with your company, I would expect rescheduling to be treated as a priority.It was also disappointing that the technicians did not check the floor heat as requested. Your manager reviewed the original scheduling call and confirmed to my husband that we had asked for a health report on the floor heat, but that service was not provided.We hope that customer concerns are taken seriously, as our experience has been that communication between the scheduling team and technicians has been inconsistent.Thank you.I can’t overstate how frustrating this company is to work with. It’s honestly impressive how often they fail to show up within their already very broad service windows.Today, they were scheduled to arrive between 11:00 and 2:00. I received a confirmation text and even spoke with someone that morning to check on the technician’s status. By 2:10, when no one had arrived, I called for an update, only to be told by the manager that the technician had already been there and left.What makes this even more absurd is that while I was on the phone with her, I received a text at 2:12 stating that the technician was not only on his way, but had also arrived.When I explained that I had received no prior text or voicemail and even offered to show her my messages to demonstrate the breakdown in communication, she dismissed it and insisted on relying solely on “her system.”At a minimum, customers should receive a heads-up before arrival and a notification when the technician is actually there, not after the fact. This isn’t just inconvenient; it’s a fundamental service failure that they are obviously not willing to address.

Dustin, the service technician was professional and went above and beyond the job of fixing my dryer vent, that goes outside. He got under the house and fixed the proper connections. He even put a metal plate on the wall so there wouldn't be any further problems. I would recommend Western Heating and Air Conditioning to anyone.

Bought a new build home, heat has worked great. Got warm a few times, tried to use the AC. Would kick on for a few minutes then stop. House would get warm, would not cool. Western was great about getting someone out, no issue there.First tech couldn't find what was wrong, no solution, but was told I'd get a call the next day for follow up and what his supervisor suggested. No call the next day. Got a call the say after essentially saying I don't know how to use an AC system and that I'm waiting until it's too hot upstairs, then wanting rapid cooling and I'm overloading the system.First off, we're not using the upstairs area at all and that zone is turned off. Second, on a 75-80 degree day I'm only asking the system to keep the first floor at 70... that's it. I disagreed with his sup's assessment and told him so. But his sup couldn't possibly admit there was an issue with their install. Blame it on the customer.Next day the thermostat says there's a problem with your AC system and though it's been on for hours, the temp is rising. Text a photo of that to Western, they get someone out again. Good on them for fast service.Next tech, Johnny, spends a few hours on it. Finds the voltage is cutting out, the temp sensor was installed in the wrong spot, and the control board was faulty. Doesn't sound like a customer issue to me, which is what Mark even said to Alturas after they got involved.He fixed the temp sensor, but couldn't do anything else that day, no problem. Next day I get a call saying they have a control board in stock and can take care of it today. Great! Again good service.Spencer comes out, spends a few hours here, all is working finally.Now I get they probably couldn't test the AC when it was first installed, being winter. But the first tech couldn't find the issue. Mark blamed it on me and not possibly his install, and told Alturas as much, and has yet to say my bad, I messed up... Next two techs were great. Customer Service was great.That would be it, right? Done? No. After the AC was finally running, it just kept running like the Enegizer Bunny. Set at 70, it blew down past that. Down to 67, 65, 64... wouldn't turn off at all.Called again, great customer service, got someone out again that evening. Michael did his job and found the issue. I just hope that's the last call I need to make.Even an Alturas rep that happened to be driving by stopped to ask about the constant Western vans at the house. Last night, earlier today, now...Update***Still didn't work. The first warm day we had, tried to use the AC. Nope. Wouldn't come on or cool the home. Thermostat said there's an issue an the temp keeps climbing. They were good about getting another tech out that evening, as always. Tech is working on it now... Fifth call on a new build, in less than a month.Next day another tech, tech #6... think it's FINALLY fixed and working. An issue Lloyd figured out that nobody else did.

Big Russ came over and serviced the A/C unit and flushed the hot water tank. While he was here I asked him if we could change some settings within the Ecobee thermostat. Without getting into too much detail Russ ended up calling Ecobee to help solve the issue. This is what I enjoy so much with Western is how they go out of their way to find the solution. Russ is a great guy and very good at what he does. A+++

Travis & Ian showed up within the time frame I was provided & replaced the plastic, flex crossover to the furnace/AC vents underneath the house. Both were very pleasant and gave me the opportunity to ask questions both before & after the job. Even though I think it took longer than they thought it would, I was charged the exact amount of the original quote. Very happy with my whole experience from my initial call, quote and service!

We've been using Western Heating Air for MANY years to do our twice yearly checks on our Heating and Air conditioning. As a matter of fact I believe they might have been the original ones that put them in when our home was built in 2004. They have always been professional and done a great job. We had to have our Air Conditioner replaced due to our male dog at the time, decided it was his favorite spot to pee on unbeknownst to us! Beware male dog owners!!! It can be costly! Little stinkers! He was forgiven, but he was made to find ANOTHER SPOT!They have updated components on our heater to keep it going and in great working order without having to replace it! That's just another reason we love them, they don't push new units on us that aren't necessarily needed! Like some places do! They keep in mind how much things cost, and their customers worry of paying those prices are to us! We know they're going to have to be replaced eventually, but in the meantime, they are taking great care of our older units, AND US! Every one of their Service people from office to those that come out to do the work have always been great with us!We highly recommend Western Heating and Air to you! You WON'T be disappointed!

Called Western HVAC because their sticker was on our Furnace. Had problem with no airflow on the main level of our home, I had diagnosed the problem as a broken zone damper motor which is located in the crawl space. I am 6'2 220 lbs and was not crazy about getting into the crawlspace. Western sent a tech Ken Tokowitz and an assistant to resolve the problem. They were both punctual and polite, they insisted on doing their own inspection and diagnosis which is reasonable and they charge $97.00 for this. After 45 min to an hour they determined that the issue was a broken zone damper motor and wanted $978.93 to replace the motor which I thought was unreasonable and refused. Paid the $97.00 for the dog and pony show, a few beautiful pictures of some rust spots they were concerned about and sent them on their way. Sucked it up and crawled my way to the location of the zone motor held in place by one screw and a shaft retaining clip and removed the motor total work time 10 mins. Just ordered a replacement motor for $270.00 retail price, I realize not everyone is as concerned about price as I am just be aware they have a flat fee business model which may be okay if you need your furnace or A/C just replaced but if you actually just need a repair or parts replaced they are extremely expensive IMHO.

David and Adrian came to install a tankless water heater for me. They were punctual, communicated very well and did incredibly clean work. On top of that, they were very quick with the work that was contracted to be done. They work so well together and seem to read each other's minds as they work. I am beyond thrilled with my new unit and even more excited about their craftsmanship and how clean the area they were working in was left. I would highly recommend them for all your installation needs! Additionally, Ryan came to help with the electrical. He was very well spoken and presented me with multiple options on how the work could be done. Absolutely beyond happy with how everything turned out and everyone's work! 10/10 would recommend all three of them!

During a recent maintenance of our air conditioning unit, the Western Heating technician recommended a home surge protector because of the area we live in; we did some research into this and determined that it was a great idea. We contacted Western Heating to install it, and as luck would have it, they were able to come out the next day. Their electrician, David Forbes, arrived on time, was very professional and took the time to explain everything he was doing throughout the installation. When he was done, everything looked great and was nice and neat. He even helped identify, label, and relabel some of our breakers since he had to move a few around during the install. We’re very happy with his work and Western Heating.

Ken Tokowitz and colleague came out to replace our furnace motor, etc. It was making very loud noises for like 6 months which surprised us because the house was only 4 years old. Another company came out for a maintenance check and got it a little quieter but then 2 months later, it got worse.Then Ken from Western Heating & A/C came over. He was incredible professional and knowledgeable. The furnace motor and blower wheel were fried and needed replacement. Ken said it might still be under warranty. It turned out that we only had to pay for labor and the system is quieter now than when we moved into the brand new house.It's so great to work with knowledgeable people and honest businesses. You can trust Ken & Western Heating and A/C!The previous company said the replacement would be $1500 - $2000 and didn't even mention that it might be under warranty.

I had to replace a 17 year old furnace and AC. Mike listened to my concerns and came up with a plan. Scheduling was fast. Excellent communication. You even get a tracker to track when they will arrive. The installers were phenomenal!! Hard working and very pleasant. Showed me how everything works including the new smart thermostat. Overall a very positive experience and would recommend them in a heartbeat!

Another project completed with the expertise of Western Heating! We contacted Western to get a bid on venting the two bathroom fans to the outside. John S did the install.John and co-worker were on time, explained what the install would include and the approximately timeline. After the installation was completed, he discussed installation details and took pictures of the completed project …..in the attic and outside. Now we have a visual record of the project for our files.Thank you, John, for your expertise! Thank you Western for investing in and valuing your employees like John.Professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Explained the process for the install , put down floor protectors and covered stove top to protect from damage. Concern because of carbon monoxide detector had alarmed on two different days. Needed checked to be assured no leaks. Excellent service. Connor was outstanding and was a very good teacher so I could gain understanding of what to look for in the future. He is definitely an asset to your company and an employee you have to be very proud of.

Russ is such an easy guy with whom to work. We have 2 systems do there’s a lot of moving around as well as going outside and back in. He let us know what he was doing and did a summary of everything before he was ready to leave. Great job Russ!

I had just moved to Boise and took possession of a new home. On the first night we were there, the AC system was not working properly. Searching online for service providers I read the previous good reviews on Western and called for assistance. They were able to send a tech the very next morning, who found the issues with the system. The service technician, Michael, was outstanding. he cleaned and tested entire system which was required for it to operate properly. That was all it needed. It is now performing perfectly. I also signed up their maintenance program, which will provide semi annual service and cleaning. I’m very pleased to have found such a good company with a great tech like Michael.

I had been with Western for over 20 years and had built a strong level of trust with them. However, over the past couple of years, something changed. Service technicians seemed to spend more time trying to sell additional services than beforeIt appears the company was acquired by a private equity firm, which brought a more aggressive, sales-driven business model—something that is common with many private equity–owned companies. Technicians are now compensated, at least in part, based on sales.Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend considering a locally owned and operated company instead. I did and am delighted.

We’ve used Western Heating for 30 years and have recommended them to friends. While we have been impressed with all the technicians we’ve dealt with, Johnny is one of the best. Friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. Cross-sold another service and a replacement capacitor. We highly recommend Western Heating.
